Amey showcases local pupils’ artwork at Manchester’s Big Burnage Parade

Amey has helped bring artwork created by pupils from schools across Burnage, Withington and Didsbury to the parade route from Burnage Lane to Fog Lane Park following the successful Big Burnage Parade, with 40 banners now lining the route.  

The community arts celebration was organised by Didsbury Arts Festival in partnership with Friends of Burnage Library and Manchester City Council. 

The colourful banners, installed by BayMedia and supported by Amey, showcase the creativity of local young people and create a lasting feature for residents and visitors to enjoy. The displays will remain in place for up to 12 months, extending the impact of the parade and bringing a vibrant splash of colour to the local area. 

Amey delivers street lighting services in Manchester as part of a long-term contract with Manchester City Council, maintaining infrastructure that supports communities across the city.  

To help make the display possible, Amey worked with Manchester City Council and delivery partners ahead of the event to inspect street lighting columns along Burnage Lane and confirm they were suitable for the banner installations. This enabled the artwork to be safely mounted and displayed along the parade route.
