Amey secures first major contract with Irish Rail through high value SET framework

Amey has been appointed to Irish Rail’s Signalling, Electrification and Telecoms (SET) Implementation Partner single party framework, marking the company’s first major contract with Iarnród Éireann and a positive step forward in Amey’s long-term growth in Ireland.

The high value, eight-year framework will see Amey support Irish Rail across the Republic of Ireland, providing highly skilled rail engineering resources, delivering multidisciplinary engineering services and undertaking signalling, electrification and telecoms works on a project-by-project basis.

Covering the full project lifecycle, the framework spans early design and project management through to installation, testing and commissioning, supporting Irish Rail’s ambition to deliver a safe, resilient and future-ready railway.

Tony Ennis, Chief Engineer Signalling, Electrification & Telecoms, Irish Rail, said:

“This framework gives Irish Rail access to specialist signalling, electrification and telecoms expertise that will support the continued development of our rail network over the years ahead. Amey brings strong technical capability and a collaborative approach, and we look forward to working together to deliver projects safely, efficiently and with long-term value for passengers and communities across Ireland.”

The appointment establishes Amey as a strategic delivery partner to Irish Rail and builds on the company’s growing presence in Ireland following its involvement in the Luas operations and maintenance contract delivered through its joint venture with Keolis.

Peter Anderson, Managing Director, Transport Infrastructure, said:

“This is a defining moment for Amey in Ireland. Being appointed as an implementation partner to Irish Rail is more than a contract win – it is the start of a long-term relationship where we can bring our full system capability to support the future of the national rail network.

From early design through to commissioning, our role is about helping Irish Rail deliver a safer, more reliable and more resilient railway. We are excited about what we can achieve together and proud that Irish Rail has placed its trust in us at this scale.”

The framework strengthens Amey’s rail portfolio and aligns with its purpose to deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions that enhance life and protect the future for communities across Ireland.
